Custom Accounting Software Built Around Your Business
See what you sold, what you bought, what customers owe you, what you owe suppliers and what is in stock — from one connected system. Custom accounting software puts sales, purchases, expenses, receivables, payables, bank activity, stock valuation and reporting into one system designed around how your business actually bills, buys and gets paid. ODOOVATIONS builds this either as a custom application or on Odoo Accounting, depending on which fits your process and budget better — we assess that before recommending either.
Who this is for
Businesses whose accounts are split between a basic billing tool, several spreadsheets and the accountant’s own file — typically trading, distribution, manufacturing and service companies past the point where one person can hold it all in their head.
The problem this usually solves
Most growing businesses do not fail at accounting because nobody is doing it. They fail because it is being done in three places. Invoices come out of one tool, stock is tracked in a spreadsheet, expenses arrive as photographs on WhatsApp, and the accountant reconstructs the picture weeks later. By the time anyone sees a number, it is history — and if two people are asked for the receivables figure, they give two answers.
What the system covers
- Sales invoices, credit notes and customer statements
- Purchase bills, supplier payments and ageing
- Expenses with approval and receipt capture
- Receivables and payables with follow-up
- Bank and cash entries with reconciliation
- Stock valuation and cost of goods sold, where inventory applies
- Multi-currency, where you buy or sell abroad
- Financial statements and management reports
How money actually moves through it
- Quotation
- Order
- Delivery
- Invoice
- Payment
- Reconciliation
- Reporting
The value is not any single step — it is that each one writes to the same records. When a delivery goes out, stock and cost of sales move with it. When a payment lands, the receivable clears. Nobody re-enters anything, so nobody can enter it differently.
Controls that prevent the common problems
- Roles and permissions, so not everyone can edit a posted entry
- Approval limits on purchases and expenses
- An audit trail of who changed what and when
- Locked periods once accounts are closed
- Validation that stops incomplete entries at the point of entry
Reports management actually uses
- Profit and loss, by company, branch or product line
- Balance sheet and trial balance
- Receivables and payables ageing
- Cash position and expected inflows
- Gross margin by product, customer or salesperson
- Expense analysis by category and cost centre
Custom build or Odoo Accounting?
If your accounting is reasonably conventional, configuring Odoo Accounting is usually faster and cheaper than building from scratch, and you inherit a maintained product. A custom build earns its cost when your costing, pricing or industry rules are genuinely unusual, or when accounting has to sit inside a larger custom system. We make that call with you during discovery rather than defaulting to whichever is more work for us.
Accounting software is not a bookkeeping service
ODOOVATIONS builds the system. We do not keep your books, post your entries, prepare your returns or act as an outsourced accounts department. Your team and your accountant record the transactions; the software keeps them consistent, controlled and reportable. If what you need is someone to do the bookkeeping for you, that is a different service from a different kind of firm — and we will say so rather than sell you software you did not need.
We build accounting systems. We are not your bookkeepers, auditors or tax advisors, and this page is not tax advice. Tax treatment, statutory filing and audit requirements should be confirmed with a qualified professional, and we work alongside your accountant during setup.
Questions
Yes. Separate books per company with consolidated reporting across them is a standard requirement, and it is far easier to set up correctly at the start than to retrofit, so tell us early if it is likely.
